Transit Windsor:

Provides door-to-door transportation services to persons of any age who are physically disabled and the frail elderly who lack transportation. Capacity for 16 passengers, including four wheelchairs. Transportation to Essex and Windsor.

ACCESSUBILITY FEATURES
It is equipped with:
- Wheel chair accessible front entry
- Gender specific wheel chair accessible bathroom stalls or a unisex wheel chair accessible bathroom
- A manual lift system with a 500 lb. capacity. The lift is stored in a shed on the platform. Via staff wheel it out to the train when it is needed. The operator uses a crank to manually raise and lower the lift. The lift is available at both Windsor and London Stations but may not be available at others
- There are two types of cars that travel between Toronto & Windsor, each with its own floor plan and specific door widths (see attached). The cars that are designated for wheelchairs have a tie down system, but no passenger restraint system

CHECKED BAGGAGE
Wheelchairs that are checked as ‘baggage’ are free of charge.
Wheelchairs may be folding or rigid, manual or power, but must be less than 32” wide when fully open.
Electric wheelchairs and scooters must weigh less than 68 kg (150 lbs) and not exceed 32” in width and 72” in height or length. Exceptions are made up to 250 lbs if departure and destination stations are equipped with lifts to (un)load them.
FREE ESCORT
Passengers who need assistance attending to their personal care needs (for eating, personal hygiene and medical care) and transfers on/off train (if no lift is available), can have one escort travel free with them. The escort is expected to be able to assist with transfers. An escort may travel for free with any child eight (8) years of age and older who requires assistance in the above areas. The traveler with special needs must present, for each trip, a valid card from a recognized association or institution for persons with disabilities, ie. available through Easter Seals (www.easterseals.org) or a recent letter dated within the last 9 months and signed by a doctor. To be valid, the letter must describe exactly which of the following personal needs the traveler can’t attend to him/herself, ie. Eating, personal hygiene, medical care (administration of medication, supervision by nurse, etc).
